The basil is an annual plant 20 to 60 cm high, oval-lanceolate leaves, reaching 2 to 3 cm. The leaves are light green to dark green, purple violet sometimes in some varieties. The erect stems, branched, a cross section as many Labiatae, they tend to become thick and woody. The flowers, bilabiées, small and white, have the upper lip split into four lobes. They are small and grouped into long spikes tubular-shaped elongated grapes.
